Citrus scents

Citrus fragrances in the world of perfume refer to all the Hesperidium fruit. This fragrance group includes not only the various citrus fruits, but also all other products from nature with a citrus aroma. For example, you can think of verbena or lemongrass. Next to resin, this scent group is one of the oldest ingredients in perfume history. Nowadays, many newer citrus scents are also used. Examples include pomelo, yuzu and grapefruit.

Citrus, of course, is known for its fresh fragrance. The peel of the citrus fruit is pressed cold instead of hot. In this way, the fragrance retains its refreshing character. In perfumes, citrus scents are often identified as top notes. The top notes you smell the strongest at first and are often more volatile in nature than the heart notes and base notes in perfumes. Citrus fragrances are "light" scents.

Citrus added to perfume gives a refreshing and sparkling character. The fragrance can increase clarity of mind while giving an upbeat/optimistic feeling.  The fragrance makes a good combination with the more prominent floral and resinous notes. Citrus scents are also a good combination with other fruity accents.

In short, citrus scents are energizing, refreshing and timeless! Ideal for summer days, but of course equally wearable in winter.
